Prepares an Oracle statement for execution

Prepares using and returns the statement identifier, which can be used with , and other functions. sql``connection``oci_bind_by_name``oci_execute

Statement identifiers can be freed with or by setting the variable to null. oci_free_statement

connection An Oracle connection identifier, returned by , , or . oci_connect``oci_pconnect``oci_new_connect

sqlThe SQL or PL/SQL statement.

   SQL statements  end with a
   semi-colon (";").  PL/SQL
   statements  end with a semi-colon
   (";").
